Plant Power Day 2017

The University of Dundee & the James Hutton Institute came together to host a free family day event; Plant Power Day, at the Botanic Garden in Dundee on Sunday 20th May. Plant Power Day highlights the fascination of plants and their importance for humanity. The event had many stalls and activities, with live music, plant sale, face painting, wood turning, flute making, beekeeper workshop and much more!

This is the third year I've provided an arts and craft stall at the event, using natural materials to inspire kids and adults to get creative. This year I brought back some wooden chalk boards (very popular!), and brought in a new craft that proved to be just as popular: wooden pendants (necklace/decoration/bracelet), as well as a communal drawing, nature bands, and pine cone
 and pipe cleaner crafts!

The event as a whole was very successful, even with some showers through the day. I was kept busy at my craft stall all day, and enjoyed drawing with very polite and cheerful kids!
